Wednesdays are for Weddings!

My Old Kentucky Home

Wedding Inspiration

It is Derby time in Kentucky! A time most Kentuckians look forward to each year, with visions of beautiful clothes, hats, mint juleps and red roses.........and, of course, the horses! Today, I am embracing old Kentucky tradition as inspiration for weddings.

Go for glamour! It's all about class, elegance, tradition and sophistication.

Wednesdays are for Weddings!

Today, I saw video highlights featuring one of the most beautiful and emotional weddings I have ever witnessed. With ABC News, Diane Sawyer narrated the story of Jennifer Darmon's determination to walk down the aisle with the love of her life. You can view the video here . I cried from beginning to end, completely inspired by her strength and perseverance.

Wednesdays are for Weddings!

Marriage/Divorce

By now, I am sure everyone is well aware of my love for weddings, but I also love being married. All too often, people become so excited/obsessed with planning the perfect wedding, they forget about about the days following the honeymoon. As I was searching for inspiration for my weekly wedding post, I stumbled across an article here . Take time to read the article as it is very interesting and honestly.....SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME! The survey findings, published by Reuters, suggest possible reasons as to why your mate may potentially decide to run in the opposite direction. Here is a summary of the top 10 list published by Reuters:

1. "Weight gain/lack of exercise"
2. "Money and spend thriftiness"
3. "Anti-social working hours"
4. "Hygiene issues (personal cleanliness)"
5. "In-laws/extended family-too much/too little"
6. "Lack of romance"
7. "Alcohol-drinking too much"
8. "Snoring and anti-social bedtime habits"
9. "Lapsed fashion-same old underwear/clothes"
10. "Bathroom habits"

So.....do these survey findings scare you? Honestly, I could check yes to at least 6 out of 10! I am just praying my husband doesn't stumble across this article, because he will definitely have the research findings to support his decision to run!

Bridesmaid Dresses

Christy at Life as a New Mrs.-Again did a Wednesdays are for Weddings post today, featuring bridesmaid dresses that can be worn again after the wedding. You can view her post here . I loved the dresses she featured and thought I would post some of my favorites too. My favorite clothing store in the world is Ann Taylor. I should really buy stock in the company as a large part of my paycheck boosts Ann Taylor's profits each month! Most of the Ann Taylor bridesmaid dresses could easily be worn at other events after the wedding.

I also LOVE J. Crew bridesmaid gowns......

Wednesdays are for Weddings!

The Short Dress....

As I search for wedding ideas each week, I have noticed a growing trend for the short dress. I absolutely LOVE some of the designs.

Marchesa

Liancarlo

Amsale Presents Little White Dress

Marchesa

Vera Wang

I usually favor very traditional wedding gowns, but I am starting to see the appeal of different . I especially love the concept of wearing the short dress for a destination wedding.

What do you think of the short dress as bridal gown?

Wednesdays are for Weddings!

The Royal Wedding

One of my friends recently said to me, "Are you excited about the upcoming wedding?" You think? I absolutely cannot wait to see the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate. I am sooooo excited, but a little worried at the same time. Kate is extremely beautiful, but I perceive her as modern and very high fashion. I admire those attributes in most instances, but I so want to see a traditional Princess walk down the aisle. I want to witness a Royal Wedding reminiscent of Grace Kelly, embracing class, beauty and elegance. I also wonder if there are certain rules, which apply to the modesty of the gown. Will she even be allowed to wear a sleeveless or strapless gown? What do you think she will wear?

I could see her in something like this:

Monique Lhuillier

I would love to see her in something like this:

Carolina Herrera

Or this (please add royal crown and veil):

Angel Rivera

But, I predict we will see her in something like this:

Priscilla of Boston

Or something similar to this, but with longer sleeves and massive cathedral train (and I do predict Bruce Oldfield to be the designer of Kate's wedding gown):

What do you think Kate will wear?
Please, post a comment with your predictions!
